About Me
I'm Bernd-Michael Rennebeck — software engineer, data scientist, father, and lifelong geek. Over the past two decades, I've built technology products across three continents. I grew up in Florida, moved to Manila, and ended up building both my life and career here.
Today I run SageDynamics, an AI products and consulting firm in Makati, where I work with companies on practical uses of AI — the kind that improves systems, teams, and decisions without the usual hype. I also serve as CTO across several ventures under the VS12 umbrella, including Agent Image, a real estate web platform supporting 27,000+ agent sites in North America; Real.ph, a Philippine property marketplace; and QTime, a remote work tool we launched early in the pandemic.
I also spent time in healthcare technology as Chief Data Scientist at mClinica (now SwipeRx), helping build data products that connected pharmacies, physicians, and pharmaceutical companies across Southeast Asia. In 2016, our team won the IBM Watson Asia-Pacific New Venture Challenge in Singapore for a prescription-safety application built on Watson's APIs. That experience reinforced a belief I still carry: the best technology is useful, accessible, and quietly effective.
I'm also committed to the developer community in the Philippines. I founded HackManila, a hackathon series focused on giving local engineers a place to build, compete, and learn together.
Outside of work, I'm dad to my daughter Arya — a role that matters more to me than any title. My personal site says "I Build Things," and that still feels like the simplest way to describe what I do, whether it's software, teams, or the occasional LEGO set.
